TikTok has been a social media revelation for the past five years now and its popularity is up there with the likes of Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. This popularity has since drawn the attention of online marketers who use the platform to promote their products and services.
Unlike many other platforms, a piece of content can go viral in no time on TikTok. This opens the door for many possibilities for you as a digital marketer because with TikTok you can reach a very large number of people with relative ease.
Now, the buzzing question is how exactly are you going to utilize TikTok to promote digital products, especially as a beginner? In this blog, I’ll be taking you through a step-by-step guide on exactly how to do it.
Create a TikTok Account
The first step is to find a profitable niche that is also trending on TikTok, you can study other accounts on TikTok to find the best-performing ones. When you do so, simply create a new TikTok account or rebrand one that you already own.
Give your TikTok account a name that resonates with the niche that you have selected and the overall branding of the account should be one that can be easily recognized and associated with your chosen niche.
Personally, I recommend you go for a niche like motivation, fitness, make money online, spirituality, etc, because these niches have good performance and since we will be promoting digital products, these are the best ones to go for.
Start Posting Content on TikTok
TikTok is primarily a vertical short-form video content platform, so the content that you’ll be sharing should also follow the same rule. This means that you’ll be crafting short video content and sharing them on your TikTok account.
Before you start creating, also take time to scout the platform and find accounts that are in the same niche as you and are doing well performatively. When you find these accounts, study their contents and content strategy to see what they are doing correctly.
Also, check for viral videos from the aforementioned accounts or in your niche in general. Videos hardly ever go viral by luck on TikTok, hence if any video gets tons of engagement, there must be a virality element about them that you should try to recreate.
When you find the accounts and videos that are going to be your case study, you can start recreating them. Video editing is not easy at all and you can pay someone from a platform like Fiverr and Upwork to help you out.
However, as a total beginner, you can edit with CapCut, a video editing software for desktop and mobile created by TikTok. If you have any issues you can go on YouTube to get some quick tutorials on it. When you do it consistently it will eventually become easier.
When posting content on TikTok, ensure you use the right captions, related hashtags, and most importantly, viral sounds currently on the platform. You should be posting two or three times daily until you start seeing results.
Find a Profitable Digital Product in Your Niche
If you post consistently for three or four weeks on TikTok, it’s very likely that you’ll start seeing results, and when you eventually get to 1,000 followers some new features will be added to your account, the most important of these features is the ability to add links to your TikTok bio.
When you grow your TikTok following to 1,000 followers and/or when you already have three to five viral videos on your account, then it’s time to find a digital product in your niche that you will be promoting.
To find a digital product, you can simply go on any affiliate marketing network like ClickBank, Digistore24, WarriorPlus, Impact Radius, ShareAsale, JvZoo, CopeCart, PartnerStack, CJ Affiliate, FlexOffers, etc, to find a good digital product on your niche.
How To Promote Digital Products on Your TikTok Account
When you find a good product that perfectly suits your niche and has a payout rate of $10 to $50 per commission which is okay for beginner affiliate marketers, then you can move on to promoting it with your TikTok account.
Firstly, create a landing page that is going to contain all the details of the offer and a call-to-action (CTA) button(s) or link that your audience can use if they want to make a purchase. You can create a landing page with Systeme.io, Brizy.io, Carrd.co, etc.
Paste the link to the landing page you just created on your TikTok bio and above it you can add texts that indicate what the link is for. After completing the whole process, the videos you’ll be making going forward should contain details about the product you’re promoting.
These details should be subtle so TikTok does not reduce your reach. You can add a simple text that says “Link in bio” at the end of your videos, put the text in the caption, or write it down in the comment section after uploading the video.

Conclusion
While the opportunity for success with TikTok is high due to it being a relatively new social media platform, this also increases the chances of failure, especially for beginner marketers because there are not many proven strategies for success out there with the platform.
